The third and strongest theme was that of Aquarius and/or Uranus connections, the subject of this article.
In a previously published article, America’s Communication Quandary – Our Mercury/Pluto Opposition, I described the powerful communication for good or evil theme. In a future article I will do the same for the USA Neptune/spirituality theme. In this article, I will examine the USA Aquarius/Uranus theme that does show 32 of 43 connections in Aquarius plus 9 of 43 in the Aquarius polarity (opposition) of Leo leaving only two USA presidents without this specific connection. As if that was not sufficient, in addition 18 of the 43 presidents connected directly to the USA Uranus.
What do I mean by connections? By standard measure there are 360 degrees in any wheel or 360 points for connection and a myriad of potential connection combinations. I chose 13 positions to be primary in the USA and the presidential maps: the ten physical solar system bodies, the midheaven, ascendant and lunar node. The sky maps of our presidents each have several of their personal positions that connect specifically to the USA country sky map. For the astrologers reading this article, I used conjunction and opposition aspects only with tight orbs up to five degrees.
Why are these connections significant? Think of the millions of people that have been born since the inception (or somewhat prior to inception in the case of the Founding Fathers) of our country on July 4, 1776. Only 43 of that vast number of people assumed the office of president, 43 men whose personal sky maps connected specifically to one or more of the USA’s 13 primary points mentioned. While not a statistician, I consider tight connections as specific and large numbers of a specific connection statistically significant.
Why would the Aquarius/Uranus connections be an important theme to our country? Aquarius is a sign and Uranus is a planet. The nature of the sign Aquarius is similar to the planet Uranus so the sign and the planet share an affinity. Mankind as a group is a creature of habit, making do with the status quo until it no long is tenable and then seeks change. The explorers who discovered America were risk-takers, adventurers, seeking new lands and resource and what they found was new and unusual by their own standards. Exploration and discovery is very Aquarian/Uranian in nature.
The settlers who followed the explorers were fleeing religious persecution, some were debtors, and some were seeking a new life in a new land. They came in amazingly small ships (I have seen the replication of the Mayflower) that crossed an enormous body of water on an adventure, sight unseen and completely unknown, gambling on their actions. Again, very Aquarian/Uranian in nature. Those settlers fought overwhelming hardships and adversaries until they established a toehold in what turned out to be a huge continent of a country. Remember, these settlers were mostly transplanted Europeans. The scale of our eventual country as compared to the small countries of Europe was far beyond each settler’s wildest imaginations.
Eventually we as a nation were birthed through a process of rebellion against our mother country, fighting with the indigenous population and other world powers of that time. The Revolutionary War is seldom described as a civil war, but it truly was a civil war. Family fought against family as loyalties were divided between the multiple countries involved, with loyalty to the Crown or independence as a unique nation the cause of the division. You could not describe Aquarius or Uranus any better than that. We were born in independence, we live with independence and we seek that independence for all of mankind. It is hard-wired into our nature as a collective. We seek the new, the unusual, change itself, forward and future oriented, willing to take chances and risk. Periodically our growth, progress or problems force us into that natural futuristic, risk-taking mode.
What kind of men would we select as leaders over the 233 years since our birth? Our country and we as citizens have changed dramatically over those years. What we needed at the moment of birth gave way to progress and change and our needs for a leader changed as we grew. We voted in those presidents who answered the current need at the time of the vote itself. As we study our history we wonder at times ‘what possessed us to elect…” about certain presidents. From my studies it does not look like there were any errors. Each time we elected whom we needed as president, we just did not always like the result!
However, the Aquarian/Uranian theme itself has never changed. We are still hard-wired towards independence and uniqueness, are forward seeking and risk-taking and select those presidents that suit the emerging circumstance.
Our inauguration process has been dramatically changed from the Piscean flavor that the Founding Fathers established to an extremely strong Aquarian flavor starting with the second inauguration of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He was an Aquarian by birth, with Venus and Mercury in Aquarius as well. As if that was not enough connections to illustrate my point, the USA Uranus is connected as well in President Roosevelt’s energy map. That is four of 13 possible connections in a single presidential chart. All future regularly scheduled inaugurations will evidence this strong Aquarian theme unless Congress, in its infinite wisdom, changes the rules again. Inaugurations that take place outside of this constitutional designation will take on a wild-card status.
I’m going to go a little technical for a moment for the actual astrologers in this reading audience, one paragraph only. If you are not an astrologer, please read slowly and repeat as needed.
• Our current president, Barack Obama, has Aquarius rising plus Jupiter and the lunar south node in Aquarius, plus his Moon is close to the USA Uranus. Obama’s theme is hope and change and his outlook is for the long term and the future, both very Aquarian/Uranian.
• Obama’s inaugural sky map held four planets (Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune) plus the lunar north node in Aquarius as well (five of the 13 positions).
• The USA’s progressed map (current country need) for the date of President Obama’s inaugural gives inaugural Mercury conjunct the USA natal Aquarius Moon. Do you think the USA’s Aquarian/Uranian energy is strong enough in today’s world?
• As if that is not enough, Obama’s nomination diurnal shows Neptune and the lunar north node in Aquarius, that lunar node on his natal Ascendant and the Neptune on the USA natal Moon.
• President Obama’s election day diurnal shows four positions in Aquarius: the Moon, Neptune, midheaven and lunar north node plus the diurnal Ascendant is on the USA Uranus.
With this number of, type of and tight connections, you cannot convince me that this is all coincidence or that the universe does not know exactly what it is doing. I do not believe in that kind of coincidence.
So what have we learned about the USA, about the election and inauguration process and the Aquarian/Uranian theme that is hard-wired into our country and our citizens? First of all, there is no coincidence that we as a people are independent, rebellious, futuristic and risk-taking in nature because it is clearly represented in our country’s energy pattern. We want it not only for ourselves as individuals and as a country, but for the world at large. That USA natal Uranus is perched on our country’s midheaven that represents our mission or goals, our stature, credibility and reputation in the world. If we are going to preach independence and individuality and try to instill it in the world at large, we need to live it, honor it and make sure it is freely given. It is quite possible that independence may not take the form we envision. That is the nature of individuality. Uranus does not play by anyone’s rules but its own. Aquarius shows the values of the collective with their eyes on the future.
